Couples who attend overnight receive one night of lodging at Lake Lawn Resort, breakfast on Saturday morning, and all retreat accommodations.
Is there a non-overnight option where we can commute from home?
Yes! You can register as “non-overnight” attendees to attend for a reduced rate. Though you won’t have a room overnight or breakfast Saturday morning, all other parts of the retreat are included.
We can only make Friday night or Saturday morning—can we still sign up?
Yes! Please sign up as “non-overnight” attendees and indicate that you can only attend part of the retreat in the questionnaire.
What is the schedule going to be like?
- Friday evening will start around 7:00 pm with the first session. If your schedule allows, we encourage you to enjoy dinner together as a couple beforehand.
- Saturday morning will include 2 breakout sessions: one for the men and one for the women. We will then regather for a final session all together. We plan to be done by 12:30 pm so you can go out to lunch and debrief.
Is there financial help available to come?
Yes! If the cost is prohibitive, please sign up and indicate your need in the questionnaire.
I’d love to help another couple attend. Can I give money to help cover their costs?
Yes! Donations towards scholarships for other couples can be made at cwc.church/marriage-gift
Why this theme? What will we be talking about? And who are the speakers?
- We know that the gospel is not just the start of the Christian life, but the entire Christian life. We follow God by faith as he transforms us into the likeness of his Son. And, we also know that marriage itself was designed by God to reflect this gospel: Christ’s relationship with his people, the Church.
- At this retreat, we want to reflect on how the gospel transforms our marriages. Though the natural man approaches marriage wondering “what can I get out of this,” God transforms us by his grace and by a more compelling vision for marriage to have his eternal goals in mind. We begin to ask questions like, “how can me being married to my spouse help them be closer to the Lord and have more joy in him?” and “how can I help my spouse prepare for eternity with God by my encouragement and strengthening?” Together, we’ll reflect on how the gospel transforms our goals in marriage and gives us the strength to love our spouses, even when it’s difficult.
- The main sessions will be taught by the senior pastor of CrossWay, Brett Wendle, and by Mike Bullmore, who was the senior pastor of CrossWay for our first 25 years. The breakout sessions for the men and the women will be led by Steve Moore and Christy Moore. Steve serves as a pastor at CrossWay, and his wife Christy Moore serves as CrossWay’s Women’s Ministry Director.
What do we do for Dinner on Friday night or Lunch on Saturday afternoon?
- You are free to eat where you would like! There are several great options at Lake Lawn and nearby Lake Lawn. We will send out a list of some of the options ahead of time to those who are attending.
